RHGC Plans for 2008

Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40,000 and WARMACHINE casual games held at RHGC HQ last December 29, 2007, hosted by Lito Tan. Events for the coming year of 2008 were drawn up and are as follows:


January 2008 - Terrain-making session and Lito's birthday

February 2008 - Warhammer 40,000 Megabattle (Apocalypse rules)

April 2008 - Warhammer Fantasy Grand Tournament (Kim Navarro)

August 2008 - Warhammer 40,000 Grand Tournament (Arvin Tan)


WARMACHINE/HORDES tournaments and leagues will still be regularly held, organized by Press Ganger Raymund, Mang, Arvin, and Kim (all of which will be announced on later dates).

Ranking On Hold

I will be postponing updates on our rankings but I'm still encouraging reports on this blog. I'm currently studying PHP, which will greatly help with the project. WMH ranking similarly postponed as well.

Weekday Warrior Sessions on Indefinite Suspension

For some internal reasons, Kyuzo's office in Greenbelt (where "Weekday Warrior" games were held) will not be available for our weekday sessions until further notice.

Kei, Tiny and Mando dropped by Kim's place last Saturday, as Kim cannot leave premises (better half staying in). Impromptu D&D session became WMH session way into the evening, until unscheduled power failure put stop to session.

Game 1 ~ 500 points Mosh Pit
- Trollblood Champions held from central combat by Manhunter, Widowmakers and Kell Bailoch
- Irusk orders surgical removal of Axer warbeast (Superiority Juggernaut made quick work of it) and Fell Caller (sniped down by Eiryss, Widowmakers and Kell Bailoch), rendering Trollbloods' advance through Inhospitable Ground advantageous to Khador
- With all warbeasts destroyed and Hoarluk engaged by Superiority Juggernaut (which he failed to destroy), Kei concedes
- Kim's Kommandant Gurvaldt Irusk victorious over Kei's Hoarluk Doomshaper

Game 2 ~ 500 points Divide and Conquer
- Cocoy playtests Rhyas and Nephilim
- Rapport Carnivean vanquishes Dire Troll Mauler on the charge in one go!
- Rules for movement of models tightened up
- Trollblood Champions give Cocoy fits ("What the?")
- Kei finishes with Crusher-ing many vital Everblight units, taking his east DAC objective
- Kei's Chief Madrak Ironhide victorious over Rhyas, Sigil of Everblight

Game 3 ~ 500 points Invasion
- Rhyas with Massacre plows through many of Irusk's infantry, but her movement effectively slowed by Inhospitable Ground and Undying Loyalty
- Doom Reavers take down an Ice Caged Carnivean (via Greylords) in one go!
- Superiority Juggernaut rips apart Warmongers, with one FOC to spare
- Shredders' Tenacity animus makes Rhyas even harder to hit; tactics on bringing down high DEF warlocks/warcasters discussed
- Kim's Kommandant Gurvaldt Irusk victorious over Cocoy's Rhyas, Sigil of Everblight via victory points at end of time limit

Foolish little me felt ambitious to pit my decks against Obi's Hairybelly deck while we waited for the others to arrive. Guess today's not that day. +P

Arvin arrives with terrain! Woohoo!!! Arvin also brings out his Iron Warriors and laid his Bunker Assault Challenge for a last glory run before the much talked about new codex comes out.

Gelo was his usual animated self that night who along with Obi contented themselves in spectating as well as commentating at the sidelines while the bunker assault challenge was underway. Arvin's Iron Warriors still live up to the billing of being nasty whether defending or attacking in this scenario. That was fun.

Weekday Warrior Session... Of The Alcoholic Kind

Attendees : Romy, Tiny, could've been more but a lot cancelled last minute. :)
Highlights :

No exactly the Weekday Warrior session that usually happens around here. Most of the usual players begged off last minutedue to domestic obligations, traffic, or just plain bad timing. Tiny and Romy decides to go take one for the road so that the Session would not exactly go to waste.

And waste it did not. Lolz. Actually one for the road went a long way. Let's see, if memory serves me well, it was three yards, five mojitos and a pair of DJU Coronas later, did the two decide that this week's Weekday Warrior Session still went well. Lolz.

Highlights :

Interesting story first. WWS started out a little differently when Romy didn't really anticipate someone else planning to use the conference room as a dance practice venue by the girls on site for an upcoming event. So for the first couple of hours, it was standing room only for the boyz sharing a single table! It was a bit crowded at first, but this of course did not faze the boyz, the gaming addicts that we are... ;)

Highest Weekday Warrior turnout ever! Attendance was at a staggering high of eleven grown-up kids playing various games in all its bolter-blazing, metal-mangling, flesh-tearing, and card-flopping glory, Weekday Warrior style!

Pork the Third Ork God is in da haus! His arrival to the Weekday Warrior Sessions was anything short of awe-inspiring (we almost thought it was the end of the world as we know it). A last minute text message (how he pulled that off I was too shocked to investigate...) confirmed his arrival with his Merc army for some late night Warmachine/Hordes action! Also in the haus is Kei and Koi who tagged along with Kim and Tiny for some "get your feet wet" games.

Tiny and Kim play Warmachine/Hordes! They had fun discovering the wonders of a whiteboard table surface so they can write down any spell effects or what else you might like for better visualization of the game!



Tiny learns the tough lesson of Widowmakers that get to snipe off his Long Gunners despite sitting on an Arcane Shield. He also learns of the solid running-to-engage tactic plus the value of having reach (Hunter engaged by two MOWDC; tried to escape, ended up being blown to smithereens -- they ain't called a "demolition corps" for nothing). Also to make the power attacks BEFORE the regular attacks (Thunderhead engages the Butcher, makes a regular attack then decides to throw him after... you can guess what happened next). To his credit, Tiny spammed Temporal Barrier to his advantage -- eradicating the cheerleading Manhunter and the Widowmakers.

Arvin arrives with birthday boy Fluffyman! Happy birthday Dude! Arvin comes over with just his card pool since his cards are somewhere in a tourney in Los Baños... Got some games in, though slightly lower in number today since Birthday Boy needs to be early tomorrow. ;)
